Comment on this quote #3 Pascal
"We are not satisfied with the life that is in us and in our own being: we want to live an imaginary life in the minds of other people. For this reason we are anxious to shine. We work continually to embellish and preserve this imaginary being, and neglect the true one." Pascal

Nobody can say they are immune to this quote it is who we are in society and how society sees us that makes us who we are and want to be. A Reflection of it, a better version of it, a loner, a cast away, a mod...whatever our internal cast and take on life drives us to this resolution. Who are we but what we think society wants us to be and our course in that. Often we are different or change over time based on not us actively changing us but because we think society has a different perception that we must act toward....kind of scary really.
Be Not So Far
And just to remind you of a funny drunk night:

I'm torn on this particular topic. I feel like sometimes there is pressure on me to be someone else, to buy into a lifestyle I know I don't need or want. But I also feel that this pressure sometimes helps me become more than what I had planned.
It's cliche, but nobody is an island, and the more I "reflect on my reflections," both literal and figurative, the more I see myself as a collage of the people around me. And this collage is made of pieces of material that are opaque, translucent, and reflective. Some I have put there, and some others have put there, but in the end, I am the only collage like me.
There may be other similar collages that look the same on first glance, but if you pay attention to the details, something unique emerges. It takes time to realize what is unique in the collage of the self.
